Introduction | |

The User-friendly Flexi-IT Approach for Education (UFIA) is a joint project of the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems and the Computer Centre of the University of Hong Kong. The project is funded by the Quality Education Fund of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
The objective of the project is to introduce a quality learning and teaching environment to the schools in Hong Kong, based on the UFIA web-based learning system. To realize the aims, we choose to convert some of the Chinese, English and Mathematics materials into web format using the latest IT technologies such as multimedia presentation and have selected 13 primary schools for the pilot run. Teachers in these selected schools are trained to improve their information technology knowledge. On the other hand, the converted teaching materials will be incorporated into the new learning and teaching model. The new model has been tested in the pilot schools since September 1999. We hope that this new model of learning and teaching, if successful, can be extended to all primary schools and secondary schools, thus provides a better Quality Education in Hong Kong.
