In this project, teachers from our pilot schools are invited to design teaching contents based on the school curriculum for Chinese, English and Mathematics. (In order to better master the skills on web-based learning and content design, after detailed discussions with teachers, the project focuses on developing contents for Primary 3 students in the pilot study run between 1998 and 2000.) The contents and learning targets are then presented on web with attractive and interesting games, chapters and exercises by IT professionals and graphics designers. Much attention has been put in explaining mistakes to the students with the help of Cantonese, Putonghua and English sound recording and the learning materials are readily available on web such that students can study at their own pace.
Also, the learning materials in the UFIA system is a joint effort of over 150 teachers. It builds a foundation for teachers to share teaching expertise among schools and offers parents an educational and enjoyable web site to play with their children. |
